Sanctuary, United Church of Christ, is inspired by the rich, spiritual and worshipful moments we have had in connection with the visual arts.
We are showing work from artists in our congregation and those with whom we have a spiritual connection through art.
Linwode Paquette - model ship builder - is incarcerated and makes boats out of rubbish such as lunch trays, used ballpoint pens, paper and strings from his blanket. His boats are based on ones he sees in books. He began making boats as a way to deal with his stress and anxiety in prison and to focus his mind in a positive way. To date he has never actually been on a boat but hopes to do so when he is released in 2018.
Charlene Carle - quilter - is a member of our congregation who is hand quilting and finishing the Lakota Star quilt tops from native american quilters on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. These quilts will be used to raise funds for our volunteer work with the Lakota.
Julie Roberts - watercolor artist - whose love of birds is reflected in her graceful art.
Ose Manheim - photographer - spirit of nature and the seasons.
Sue D’Arcy Fuller - photographer - collection of photographs representing memories and the human experience of reflecting on one’s life.
Nurture spirit and creativity, and feed the soul!
