Martha Ingols grew up in Providence, RI, where she took classes at Rhode Island School of Design from an early age. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College in 2001. She worked in theatre sewing costumes for sixteen years, and now lives in East Arlington with her husband and daughter.
I use fabric, paper, and other materials to make quilts, bags, and other fabric creations. I also work in photography, with favorite subjects being plants, animals, and abstract colorfields. I love to work with bright colors and geometric forms to see how they interact with each other in unexpected ways. I also love to explore shape and composition, randomness and serendipity.
