Biography

I spent my early years in Rambervillers, a small town in Les Vosges (France)

In 1984, after a two years sabbatical devoted to study many forms of visual art at Ecole de l’Images in the nearby town of Epinal, I started to exhibit oils, acrylics, and etchings. I came to the USA in 1994 –by way of Cambodia between 1992 and 1994, to teach French as a foreign language and philosophy at the International School of Boston. It is also when I decided to specialize in linocuts and woodcuts, mainly by lack of proper studio space.

Photography, which I had always used as a visual travel log, became the base of my work. This work is not intended to describe particular places, but the ideas related to them, and my short stories, philosophico-humoristic takes on everyday life, follow the same trend.

I am represented in private and public collections in Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, England, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden, and the USA.

Artist Statement

I like the little things of life, the spectacle of nature, the lines and shapes of the world. I use them to create images, to map voyages, to share impressions. If you think my work is colorful, warm, and a bit mysterious, if it makes you smile, or travel, or imagine, if you want to take it home with you, I have reached my goal.
