Otha Sonnie

Otha returns to West Medford Open Studios with his fourth exhibit of digital imaging and portrait photographs.

His long love affair with photography and thirty years of experience has led him through many phases of photography - photo journalism, special event, commercial product, as well as portrait photography. His interest in exploring all aspects of imaging has brought him into the digital world, fully embracing this new technology.

While he continues to employ the use of traditional 35mm “wet-process” photographic techniques, Otha has shifted to the use of digital imaging equipment (cameras and scanners) to expand the creative process. This new medium, along with the use of image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, creates infinite possibilities of image creation, restoration and capture. His exhibit in West Medford Open Studios will show a sampling of his digital work. His work was recently included in a juried exhibit in February, 2005, at the Newburyport Arts Association, where he is also a member.

Additionally, Otha is the President of Medford Arts Center, Inc., a small community-based organization that supports artists and arts events in Medford. He is owner of
Art I-magination in West Medford and a partner in The Photographic Collaborative with Al Hiltz, at Arlington Center for the Arts in Arlington.
