Xu Simon

I have been working piecemeal at my pottery for over 10 years now, and I’m happy to say that I’ve been able to work consistently for nearly the past 5 years.  My first class was at the University of Houston Art Center in 1995, but I did not find time to continue my artistic education until a January term class at MIT in 2000.  After another brief hiatus, a friend convinced me to sign up for a beginner class at the Brookline Center for Adult Education during the summer of 2002.  Since then, I have re-connected with the MIT Student Art Association and have been taking advanced classes there for the past two years.

In addition to participating in the MIT Student Art Association Annual Holiday Sale for the past 3 years, I’ve shown my creations at the West Medford Congregational Church’s annual craft sale in 2006.  Much of my work is currently showing at 13 Forest Gallery in Medford Square (www.13forest.com).  I am continually refining my style and working on my technique, with a current emphasis on consistent sets and developing a unique decorative aesthetic.
