Statement
I am intrigued by the effects of light, shadows, colors, and shapes, especially in nature and the objects around me.  Sometimes I like the shape of a single object standing alone in its environment.  The media I work most in is watercolors, which lends itself well to experiments with light and shadows.  I also enjoy drawing in pencil.  My style tends toward realism, with an emphasis on light and shape. I also enjoy painting watercolor portraits of people's homes.

Another media I enjoy is paper layering to create topographical maps of local towns.  I hand-cut and glue each layer.  These elevation maps reveal a new perspective of the hills and features of the land we see each day.
