Charles Jones

Charles Jones is a metal sculptor/ furniture designer living and working in the Boston area.  Having served a four year, intensive apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers and the Tennessee Valley Authority Welding School, Mr. Jones worked as a nuclear certified welder, specializing in high pressure steam and lethal gas applications.  His training included the fabrication, rigging and installation of multi-ton (2-300 ton) components for conventional and nuclear power stations, steel erection and shipyard techniques.

Mr. Jones has fabricated aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, silicon bronze and other exotic alloys and is familiar with a multitude of joining and finishing techniques that can be applied to these materials.  He has extensive experience in mold-making and casting and employs a combination of fabrication and casting techniques in his sculpture, benches and furniture design.  He has recently begun to employ carbon fiber, cast urethane and other dissimilar materials in his metal components and continues to explore for new materials and techniques.

Mr. Jones is a member of the Boston Sculptors Gallery, Boston, MA.  He had his second solo exhibition at the gallery in November 2008.
