Anne Thompson I taught English at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine for more than 30 years before moving to West Medford when I retired four years ago. I’ve published mostly in the area of medieval literature, but what I enjoyed most about working in a small liberal arts college was teaching a wide variety of subjects including Chaucer, Creative Writing, British Writers and the British Landscape, Arthurian Romance, Women’s Literature and Medieval Drama. In addition to books and articles on the middle ages, I’ve also written a few articles on children’s literature and a little fiction. I’ve become very attached to this community since moving here; I volunteer at the Brooks School and the Homework Club at the West Medford Community Center and I’m happy to be participating this year in Open Studios. Currently I’m at work on a memoir of my mother, an ordinary person whose life was nevertheless interesting in many unordinary ways. I’ll be reading from a chapter which details some family history relating to the Civil War. |
