The 9th annual West Medford Open Studios will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, 2008, from 12 noon to
5 pm.

Attendees may pick up WMOS site maps from many local locations. The maps include names and locations of the artist's sites as well as a schedule of readings and any performances that are happening that weekend. Visitors to WMOS may use the map as a guide to visit any or all of the sites that interest them. There is no place to officially begin the tour. Just start at a location most convenient for you.

Some common questions and answers related to the event details are listed below to help clarify the details of the WMOS.

    Q. Where do you pick up site maps?
    A. Before the weekend of May 10 and 11, 2008, the maps will be available at the Medford Public Library and the Arlington Public Library, Medford City Hall, and local retail stores. During the weekend of WMOS maps will be available at each artist's location. You may also visit our interactive site map on this website or download a printable PDF of the map.

    Q. How will I be able to locate the artist's site?
    A. A WMOS sign and bunch of blue balloons will mark each artist's site. Each site will also have a sign with West Medford Open Studios logo on it and a site number corresponding to the map.

Q I’m not really a museum person. How is Open Studios different?
    A. WMOS is a chance to meet and talk to the artist right as you see or hear the art! You can learn what inspired the artist. You can understand the skills and ideas behind the work of art.

Q If I see something I like, can I buy it?
    A. Yes! Occasionally, you might see something marked ‘NFS’ (not for sale). But just about everything else that the artist is exhibiting is available for sale. You like it, you buy it, you take it home with you!

Q I want to take my car. Where can I park my car to attend?
    A. Generally, there are no parking restrictions on the streets in West Medford. The area of the WMOS is a walkable distance between all of the sites. Park near the site you want to visit first.

    Q. What other events will be included in the WMOS besides visual artists?
    A. WMOS will include readings on both days by local writers. In 2008, WMOS will also have several live performances by local musicians. For a schedule of the performances see the Event Map.

    Q. How much does it cost to attend WMOS?
    A. All sites are free and open to all!
